From My Heart to Yours: Why I Do This Work
Have you ever witnessed someone reclaim their life after years of struggle? I have, and every single time, it moves me deeply.
Supporting people as they heal and inhabit their authentic selves is not just my profession-it’s my calling.
Every journey is unique. I walk beside my clients as a guide and collaborator, encouraging curiosity and compassion as they connect with their true selves.
In session, I’m present and attuned, guiding clients’ to discover they can reverse patterns and release difficult emotions.
Sometimes, the work even takes on a spiritual significance, adding another layer of meaning to the process.
How I Found My Path
Listening deeply has always come naturally to me, but In 2007, I realized that traditional talk therapy left my clients feeling stuck.
This realization that I needed to be more effective, sparked my search for new tools. I dove into somatic therapy, and later into relationally focused EMDR and parts work. Each new approach has been a game changer in the effectiveness of this work.
My Own Healing Journey
I don’t just believe in therapy-I know its power firsthand. Therapy helped me navigate a difficult divorce and heal from a childhood shaped by parents acting out their own pain.
I entered adulthood unprepared for intimacy and life’s curveballs. I now understand the urgency that can drive someone to seek help.
For years, I struggled with depression and anxiety. I never imagined I could feel the peace I do today.
I’m profoundly grateful for healing from my emotional pain and self-sabotaging patterns. I bring this gratitude into my work with every client.
Becoming an Ally-A Childhood Awakening
My awareness of racial injustice started early. Although I’ve benefited from white privilege, I also witnessed, and experienced, oppression within my own family.
Also, at age six, when watching the Watts Riots unfold on TV, I felt devastated by the images of suffering and unrest. It left a mark on me. I felt a deep empathy and a sense of responsibility.
That day, I promised myself to be part of the solution-to stand up for justice and work for change which I have done.
What Fills My Cup
When I’m not working, you’ll find me listening to music, dancing, or hiking in nature. I love photography and exploring new places whenever wanderlust calls.
